The August full Moon will rise in Aquarius at 16° 59” on Saturday, the 9th, at 1:55 am MT.

A time of culmination, this full moon will shed light on all the ways we’re struggling to transform our lives. Many people dislike change (including fixed, stubborn Aquarius), yet they can agree that it is the only constant in our lives. Change is accelerating rapidly, fueled by technological innovation and widespread social connection. The July Leo New Moon prompted us to focus on ourselves, but this Aquarius full moon will push us to detach from our ego to prioritize the greater needs of society.
What does our society need?
What social constructs do we value?
How can we come together and use innovation for the greater good?
While the Full Moon is the main event in this planetary lineup, we should consider the other acts to understand what’s ahead.
This show started on July 24th when the New Moon in Leo took the stage to greet the crowd. It promised a month of intense drama driven by the energetic, impulsive, and stubborn influence of planets in Leo and Aries, many of which were in apparent retrograde. If you missed the opening, catch up by reading my article on the Cosmic Summer Roadtrip here.

Since then, three slower planets (Saturn, Neptune, Pluto) have been taking the stage and revising old material.
Neptune and Saturn have been retrograding together in the fiery ring of Aries.
On stage, these two have been working like a dynamic duo outside their comfort zones. They’re not natural at moving quickly or being irreverent. Unsurprisingly, they managed to annoy some other planets in the audience.
After playfully teasing Leo Venus in late July, they misjudged the room when Cancer Venus attended the show on August 1st.
Cancer Venus left unimpressed by the callousness and offended by surface-level jokes. She expected empathy from her date, but the evening ended in a passive-aggressive stand-off when she refused to accept that they were “just jokes.”
The next week, on August 8th, Libra Mars dropped by to check out the act. He was puzzled by his attraction to the quick-witted, sarcastic zingers, which contrast with his natural, people-pleasing, reserved style.
Earlier in the month, a retrograding Aquarius Pluto challenged the Leo Sun not to take things so personally. Leo Sun realized that sometimes control means letting go, understanding that people are laughing with him, not at him.
The Aquarius full moon will be performing for a tough crowd.
The key to a successful comedy show is the audience’s ability (and willingness) to disconnect from themselves and their lives in the moment.
They need to accept that the act on stage will take them on a different journey—deliberately absurd and hilarious.
Designed to surprise and challenge social norms and deeply held beliefs. As Carlos Mencia often says at the start of his shows, “Let’s get one thing out of the way up front…I’m going to offend everyone here tonight, regardless of your skin color, religion, or political beliefs…”

Now IS a good time to be offended and to think about how we can channel our collective intellect into solutions that help address widespread poverty, illness, homelessness, starvation, disease, climate catastrophes, racism, violence, greed, and inequity.
